One of the best analogies we've found for carrooka when introducing it to new audiences is: "It's flicky pool"! Which, is 100% correct, and we wanted to talk about how this game came to be, in terms of its inspiration from cue sports. In this blog we'll talk about 1) the connection between the two games, 2) the similarities and differences, and 3) why billiard fans will fall in love with carrooka. 

The Connection

Before Carrooka was invented, Jack Furnival (the inventor of the game) had a problem: despite being a big fan of Snooker, he, like many people, didn't have space in his house for a table. So, he went on a search for something smaller and similar to a Snooker table. 

In his journeys, he came across Carrom, a dexterity based board game that, while much smaller in nature, mirrored the goals of cue sports such as Snooker. So, he combined the two, and now we have carrooka! 

Similarities and Differences

There's the obvious shape and size of the board, which 1) makes it playable in pretty much any room, and 2) gives a new challenge to billiard players who have mastered bank shots off of a rectangular border. 

There's also the fact that the game is played with discs instead of balls, but, because of the lacquered surface, the pieces slide smoothly as if rolling across the playing surface. 

Aside from that, it's almost the same rules for the game you know and love! Pocket pieces, get points, and have some laughs and friendly competition with family and other players!
